U.S. Rep. Karen Bass Statement On NASA Announcement that California Space Center Will Receive Space Shuttle Orbiter Endeavor for Permanent Display

Apr 12, 2011

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Karen Bass released the following statement after NASA Administrator General Charles Bolden and California Science Center President Jeffrey N. Rudolph announced that the Science Center located in Rep. Bass’ 33rd Congressional District has been awarded the Space Shuttle Orbiter Endeavor to exhibit on permanent display.

The statement follows:

“Today’s announcement is a tremendous victory for the California Science Center but the true beneficiaries will be our students who will be inspired to think about a world outside of their own community. The personal journey of these young people into the areas of scientific discovery and technological advancements will strengthen California as a center for innovation.  The permanent display of Endeavor will serve a large role in fostering that creativity.

“Many leaders including my predecessor U.S. Rep. Diane Watson played an instrumental role in this effort. Thanks to their hard work, our community will be further enriched and our students will benefit.”
