“The actions taken today by President Biden are such a needed breath of fresh air for our country. For four years, the Trump administration peddled lies, deceit and hatred out of the Oval Office.
“This global pandemic is affecting everyone, regardless of political affiliation, race, social or economic status, gender, or location in the world. The numbers are spiking on the continent, but Africa has dealt with pandemics and has a lot more experience than many other regions of the world.
“I call on the Government of Uganda to let all votes be counted without interference. Election observers are impartial to the electoral process and should not be harassed nor arrested for doing their job, and I urge President Museveni to immediately investigate the arrest of any Ugandan election observers.
“Yesterday, we lost a lifelong public servant and beloved historian in Tom LaBonge – someone who absolutely loved Los Angeles and all the people in it. Tom’s tenure on the city council and his decades of service prior helped enrich our city’s future while restoring our important past.
“I send my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Brian Sicknick, who died defending the United States Capitol against the insurrection that occurred on Wednesday. Every single person involved in Wednesday’s riot should be arrested and prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law. If you have evidence connected to this incident, please contact the FBI.”
“Donald Trump should be removed from office today. That can happen one of two ways.
“Just as the world watched the killing of George Floyd on video, the world watched the shooting of Jacob Blake on video. Officers are rarely charged when they kill or injure Black people because the bar for prosecuting officers is too high. A victim has to prove that the officer intended to harm or kill the person involved in the incident.
“The disruption to human health and local economies by aircraft noise has long been overlooked or altogether ignored by the FAA,” said Congresswoman Bass. “I urge the Biden administration to appoint FAA officials who will finally address this issue that has plagued many of my constituents.”
