WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), top Democrat serving on the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, introduced a resolution along with the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Eliot L.
WASHINGTON – TODAY, the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) released the following statement calling on House Republicans to take substantive action against Iowa Congressman Steve King, who this week added to a long history of racist statements by again defending white nationalism and white supremacy during an interview with the New York Times.
“On December 30th, after two years of delay, people across the Democratic Republic of Congo went to the polls to cast their ballots. I congratulate the Congolese people's courage and commitment to holding elections and expressing themselves peacefully.
“I was stunned by the news of the death of Gemmel Moore, but I am not stunned by the death of Timothy Dean. I am again saddened, and I am again enraged. How is it that someone can have a dead person found in their house, with drugs around the house, and not be arrested? And not be tried? And not be sentenced?
“One of our most urgent priorities should be disrupting the child welfare to trafficking pipeline and finding better and more effective ways to meet the critical needs of this vulnerable population,” Rep. Bass, Co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth, said. “For far too long victims of human trafficking were left in the shadows.
