The "Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act", also known as H.R. 5476, sets forth requirements and limitations with respect to the removal from office of a special counsel appointed by the Attorney General, or of another official appointed by the Attorney General who exercises a similar degree of independence from the Department of Justice (DOJ) chain of command.

Rep. Bass Statement On Israeli Agreement with the U.N. Refugee Agency Regarding Immigrant Relocation
“I am very relieved and excited by the announcement that Israel reached an agreement with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to facilitate the resettling of African migrants. The plan would resettle asylum seekers to Western countries and within Israel rather than simply deporting those who sought refuge because of serious insecurity in their own countries.
“Today, the world has lost an advocate, a warrior and a champion for the rights of all people,” Rep. Bass said. “Mrs. Madikizela-Mandela’s lifelong fight for freedom and equality will be remembered in the hearts of the thousands who would not be free today without her struggle. My thoughts are with her family and her country as they mourn.”
“Our constituents and neighbors are facing real issues ranging from employment to health care access and we are hoping that these service providers are truly able to help by offering the great work we know they do in the community,” Rep. Bass said. “My office will continue to do all we can to connect constituents with services that will help their situations improve.”
“With less than one month until Tax Day, many communities are still in a world of confusion,” said Rep. Bass. “Many deductions that Californians have relied on have been eliminated and the future impact of the overhaul will ultimately lead to increases in taxes for many Americans.
“Senior scams are becoming more sophisticated and more common,” said Rep. Bass. “As a result, Congress should adapt and react. The resolution I’ve introduced this week calls on Congress to not only pass legislation to prevent senior scams from happening, but also to improve protections for seniors from these vicious scams.
