Bass Calls For Swift Implementation As Trump Signs FAA Reauthorization Package

October 5, 2018
Press Release
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif,) issued the following statement after Donald Trump signed the FAA Reauthorization Package into law.

“I’m pleased to see that the FAA Reauthorization Package has been signed into law,” said Rep. Bass. “Swift implementation of this bill, especially the factors designed specifically to address aircraft noise is absolutely paramount and should be a priority of the FAA. What I’ve said time and time again, though, is that this is not a time to celebrate. This bill does nowhere near what is required to address the harrowing noise that has tortured members of our community for years now. I will continue to work with my colleagues on the Quiet Skies Caucus to fix this issue of public health and safety that has plagued our constituents for far too long.”

Rep. Bass and other members of the Quiet Skies Caucus introduced more than 40 amendments to combat flight noise in Culver City, Baldwin Hills and the West Adams neighborhood. Republican leadership blocked the majority of the amendments from being considered and only a few of those proposed amendments made it into the final bill voted on today.
