Rep. Bass Hosts Tax Resource Fair in South Los Angeles

March 12, 2018
Press Release
LOS ANGELES – Last Saturday, Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) hosted a tax resource fair for constituents to discover what to expect with the new GOP Tax Plan. Constituents were able to find out which tax credits and deductions are still available for them, receive information on credit counseling and financial planning, and get help with income tax preparation.

“With less than one month until Tax Day, many communities are still in a world of confusion,” said Rep. Bass. “Many deductions that Californians have relied on have been eliminated and the future impact of the overhaul will ultimately lead to increases in taxes for many Americans. Billion-dollar corporations are already benefitting from the plan while most Americans haven’t seen the pay raise that they were promised. In addition to this impact, the plan also creates a deficit of over $1 trillion, which Republicans have already began to use as justification to propose cuts to the safety net. I will continue to fight against the implementation of this terrible plan and work towards better jobs and better wages for more Americans.”

The event also featured Board of Equalization Member Jerome Horton and Los Angeles School Board Member Dr. George McKenna, III.
